The Ninth Circuit Deicides against the Pledge of Allegiance
Even as the Ninth Circuit has deicided (that’s a pun, folks, not a typo) to remove the Pledge of Allegiance with its acknowledgement of the supremacy of God from California classrooms, the Thomas More Law Center reports (in a long story on the Pledge case at NewsMax.com) that “Christian students across California were forced to pretend they were Muslims for three weeks , praying in the name of Allah the Compassionate the Merciful, chanting Praise to Allah, picking a Muslim name from a list to replace their own name and to stage their own Jihad via a dice game.”
In another odd counterpoint, even as the Ninth Circuit is declaring that the state of California violates a child’s individual rights by making her hear the word “God” in her school classroom, a Muslim woman is insisting that the state of Florida violates her individual rights by requiring that her unveiled face be photographed for a drivers’ license. It seems that even the most minimally intrusive aspects of a recognizable public order, whether they be secular or (vestigially) religious, are not safe from the absolutist claims of non-discrimination.

The Ninth Circuit has also ended the legitimacy of the Declaration of Independance. Think about it. It has 3 references to God, and without the Creator clause, the document is thus invalidated. Happy 4th of July Fair Albion! ;) Posted by: John on June 27, 2002 10:15 AMThe real Declaration defended the rights of Englishmen against the crown. That died a long time ago. The new Declaration contains only five words. Posted by: Jim Carver on June 27, 2002 2:00 PM |
