New poll
We have a new poll—do vote! In our most recent poll, 84.8% of those responding thought that within the lifetime of today’s teenagers the United States
will become predominantly a society of protected racial and linguistic minorities, 12.1% thought that would not happen, and 3%
thought something else.

As of yesterday, the “yes” and “probably” votes in this poll had been holding steady at about a third of the total. Considering the generally paleoconservative tendencies of our readers and commenters, even that much support for war was surprising. But now there has been a spurt of “yes” and “probably” votes, pushing them up to 53 percent of the total compared to 45 percent for the “no” and “doubtful” votes. Where did all this support for war suddenly come from? There must be many more “neocon lackies” (as one of our readers has kindly described me) among our readers than has been apparent. That’s in line with what usually happens. The orthodox paleos start off with a strong lead which eventually gets cut way back by voters with more neoish sentiments. It probably shows something about who our more assiduous readers are and how they differ from the less committed silent majority. Posted by: Jim Kalb on October 4, 2002 12:55 PM |
