Man and animal in D. C.
Some people find there are things that take precedence over even observing the MLK holiday. Take for example the Mid-Atlantic Leather Weekend that just finished, which annually brings thousands of homosexual leather fetishists to the streets and hotels of the nation’s capital. Not all was perfect. Major hotel chains offered the usual concessionary rates, but the city failed to present the customary declaration honoring the event for helping sustain homosexual community and pride. The controversial nature of the event may explain the failure: apart from the lurking conflict with the MLK weekend, heterosexual fetishists were annoyed by the event’s exclusivity and PETA was upset about the lack of emphasis on vegan bondage devices and other alternatives to leather.
