Reactions to Schwarzenegger sex interview
As of 6:30 a.m. Thursday morning, only 10 people have posted comments at the Lucianne.com thread on the Arnold Schwarzenegger sex interview in Oui magazine from 1977. With the exception of one other poster and myself (post number 10), they all find excuses for Arnold and act as if it doesn’t matter. I think most Lucianne posters (who are defined mainly by their devotion to G.W. Bush and the Republican party) are embarrassed. They don’t want to attack their favorite candidate, but they don’t want to defend him either, so they’re remaining uncharacteristically quiet on the story. But the posts excusing him are revealing, so I’m showing the entire thread.
Schwarzenegger Makes Light of Wild Past Original Article LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter)—On the same day that Arnold Schwarzenegger received the endorsement of 20 state Assembly Republicans in his bid to become governor of California, a decades-old interview resurfaced in which the actor copped to a number of titillating high jinks and kinky sexual acts during his years as a bodybuilder. Let’s hope he’s mellowed with age. —— Reply 3—Posted by: AHerald, 8/28/2003 3:31:15 AM Literally within moments of the broadcast of Arnold’s announcement to run, Drudge was on FNC bagging on the guy, predicting disaster, and boasting that he was going to ”go where the dirt” is in his reporting on Arnold. Drudge now regularly engages in the very same ”agenda reporting” he used to complain about coming from the mainstream media. What’s that saying about power corrupting? Drudge makes a better David than he does a Goliath. —— Reply 4—Posted by: MsCharlotteVale, 8/28/2003 3:39:07 AM Nothing he did sounds any worse than the shenanigans of Bill. Dems used to tell us that it was just about sex and we should move on. After eight years of decadence, nothing seems to bother me that much anymore. —— Reply 5—Posted by: arikari, 8/28/2003 3:41:04 AM If this interview were from the recent past, I’d be concerned. He seems to have straightened out since then—unlike Bill Clinton, who was still carrying on in the White House and may have been a rapist to boot, according to Juanita Broderick. In Alabama, anyone with Arnold’s past would be dead politically, but California ain’t Alabama—not by a long shot. —— Reply 6—Posted by: lamm, 8/28/2003 5:02:35 AM A twenty-something virile young stud goes to Hollywood & acts like a kid in a candy shop. This is news? While we’re on the subject of old news, isn’t is about time to recyle that story about the fat old senators Kennedy & Dodd and that biz in the bar w/ the waitress? —— Reply 7—Posted by: jaymidas, 8/28/2003 6:05:52 AM Drudge is losing any respect I ever had, he’s now competing against the likes of the National Enquirer. I’m personally jealous that Arnold acted like a twenty year old—when he was in his twenties…though bet he didn’t bag as many babes as ‘The Viking’ (with ONE notable exception.) Don’t forget, The Smoking Gun is owned by Court TV. Expect more trash to come out. What’s THEIR agenda? As if we didn’t know! —— Reply 8—Posted by: TheMotherCO , 8/28/2003 6:15:36 AM I see that the dem operative said that this “probably wouldn’t set well with the conservative base”—he hopes, he hopes, he hopes!! You would just be surprised at what a lot of us did in our younger days that we do not look back on with fondness. I don’t think drudge should be pointing a finger too much. —— Reply 9—Posted by: ron2t, 8/28/2003 6:17:27 AM too late!its out arnold was like a lot of us when we we young and virle and happy go lucky —— Reply 10—Posted by: Larry, 8/28/2003 6:23:48 AM This story isn’t just about Arnold screwing around a lot when he was young. It’s about him doing things like group sex and then boasting about it (along with repeated use of the “f” word) for _publication_. Whatever age he was, however long ago it was, to engage in behavior like that and then talk about it for publication shows something wrong with a person. He sounds like a man without a soul.
People who read this interview without a feeling of disgust are suppressing their own conscience. Comments
Although Mr. Auster does have a very good point, he may want to keep in mind that this was a _pornographic_ publication. |
