Maine city denies charge of racism
An unusual sign of life in white America. The Twin City Times of Lewiston, Maine has published a blistering editorial protesting the racial-guilt hustlers who have descended on the town in the wake of the arrival of Somali refugees, and who are trying to brainwash the citizens of Lewiston into believing that, unless they “accept” Somali culture, they are all potential racial murderers on the order of those who committed the dragging death of a black man in Jasper, Texas. I’ve never seen any mainstream newspaper express itself in such strong terms on this type of issue. What is most significant is that, unlike the usual mainstream conservative approach (“race doesn’t matter, it’s crazy to think that race matters”), the editorial is defending whites as whites from the charge of racism, and basically telling the liberals, “Get out of our faces.” Posted by Lawrence Auster at September 13, 2003 08:35 AM | Send Comments
I’m not holding my breath for conservative enthusiast of immigration to fall over themselves to defend this guy, even though he is taking precisely the road recommended by them: Not advocating specific restrictions of immigration, but rather asserting American identity and calling for assimilation. He does not assert that the citizens have any right whatsoever to determine the future of their community. Posted by: Bill on September 14, 2003 5:55 PM |
