School forced to admit violent student
A New Zealand school is being forced by the education ministry to admit a 13-year-old girl who knifed a child at her last school. The school’s principal protests that he will be responsible if she attacks anyone; and teachers say they would fear to discipline such a child, whose condition is described as a problem with “anger management.” Torn between a rational fear of school violence on one hand and the non-discrimatory imperative of modern society on the other, what is the school to do? stupidity of many public school sytems. Does every child deserve a education? even ones that spit on it and RUIN the education of others? Why should they endanger the other students? I remember teaching in public schools as a sub and having some teachers tell me 1-2 bad students could cause havoc in a classroom for an entire year. But the students know that they are entitled to an education no matter what even if they cause endless chaos and ruin the learning time of others. It all sinks the schools to the lowest common denominators. This kid should be put in a special school til they are proven non-violent. It’s the socialist principle of equality, treating unequals (e.g., students who behave and students who don’t) as equals. Posted by: Lawrence Auster on September 22, 2003 12:00 PM |
