Illegal aliens’ “freedom ride”

Here is a letter by Paul Nachman, a physicist and immigration reform activist from Redondo Beach, California, to the Los Angeles Times concerning its coverage of the “Immigrant Workers’ Freedom Ride”:

Editor:

I was at Saturday’s kickoff for the “Immigrant Workers’ Freedom Ride” and can attest that the Times’s coverage missed the biggest story of the rally—the frontal assault on America’s rule of law by a powerful line-up of public officials. One after another, Mayor Hahn, Congresswoman Solis, Councilman (and ex-police chief) Parks, Councilwoman Gruel, State Senator Alarcon, and a squad of others violated their oaths to support the U.S. Constitution by encouraging people here illegally to demand their “rights”. Councilman Villaraigosa even asserted that “America must keep its promises to immigrants.”

But the implied parallel with the civil rights freedom rides of the 1960s is preposterous. Remember that we are talking here about illegal aliens, not “immigrants”. And our society made no promises to these people when they evaded our border controls or overstayed their visas. All that they can reasonably ask of us is that, when they are deported, it be done humanely. [Emphasis added.]

Ride spokeswoman Maria Durazo urges amnesty (“legalization”) and a path to citizenship for all 10 million of these people. But 1986’s “one time, never again” amnesty of 3 million illegal aliens led directly to today’s chaos. Repeating that disaster will drown the United States under a still-larger human flood. As our rule of law breaks down completely, U.S. society will become indistinguishable from the dysfunctional Third World countries most illegal aliens are escaping.

Bravo to Mr. Nachman for writing that letter! It’s simply bizarre. Any self-respecting country would arrest these illegal alien grandstanders on the spot. Like Mexico for example. Even gringos legally in the country have been expelled for marching in demonstrations.
Besides, haven’t we been lectured that illegal aliens in the U.S. live “in fear” and “in the shadows”? Yet they publicly demonstrate against our law, often with the support of public officials! Wake up, America!

I don’t know whats worse, illegal aliens boarding buses and demanding “rights” they don’t deserve or the shameless pandering to them by elected officials?

Where is Tom Ridge and the Department of Homeland Security? Will no one enforce our immigration laws? Who is running this asylum???

One can hope that this publicity stunt will be self-defeating, will awaken unaware Americans to what is happening in their midst. Maybe the conspicuous absence of law enforcement directed at people who are flaunting their law-breaking will reinforce the message.

Given all we know about America today and the character of our rulers, that almost certainly is too much to hope for. Brace yourselves, in the coming years, for endless TV replays (a la endless replays of “I Have A Dream…”) of the moment when the “undocumented were finally set on the road to liberation,” with lusty Democrats and poodle Republicans vying with each other to see who can cheer the loudest. I agree…illegal aliens have no right in our country. I mean, our tax dollars are going towards feeding and educating a bunch of people who are not even supposed to be here? That’s just plain stupidity in my opinion. If they want to be here, why can’t they just apply for citizenship?

We need to start shipping them back. Even if they go through the legal channels to become citizens there are simply too many of them. I don’t believe they really want to assimilate anyway. They are ruining our Western culture. Maybe our culture isn’t worth that much if we aren’t even willing to stand up for it. One good congressman to support is Tom Tancredo from Colorado. He is standing up against the unarmed invasion.
