Both parties fake right

After eviscerating the Democratic presidential candidates for saying that they oppose homosexual marriage, when it’s clear that they will do absolutely nothing to oppose it, Ann Coulter comes up with an original observation about the continuously leftward moving dialectic of modern society (known by us at VFR as the Hegelian Mambo):

The common wisdom holds that “both parties” have to appeal to the extremes during the primary and then move to the center for the general election. To the contrary, both parties run for office as conservatives. Once they have fooled the voters and are safely in office, Republicans sometimes double-cross the voters. Democrats always do.

I doubt that Coulter’s idea that Democrats fake right holds true all of the time, as she suggests, or even most of the time, but it’s worth thinking about.

As I recall, even HRH Hillary Clinton made a statement to the effect that she was against gay marriage per se. But who can believe anything coming from the mouths of the Dhimmicrats? The Republicans are the dangerous ones.
