I am in favor of the maximum amount of reparations for slavery, to be paid only in Confederate currency. Posted by: Alan Levine on January 13, 2004 5:15 PMIn his great book “Scam,” the Rev. Jesse Lee Peterson, (aka the ‘other’ Jesse), has a chapter devoted to “Reparations? How about a One Way Ticket Back to Africa?” which is as scathing a commentary on the whole reparations racket as anything I have yet to encounter. http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=34496 Of course, much of it stems from the famous “40 acres and mule” remark made by General Sherman. Some Southerners I know prefer to think in terms of ‘40 cubic yards and a marker.’ The one way ticket is a fine idea. Posted by: Carl on January 20, 2004 4:29 AMi think reparations are dumb. i think if u give reparations to black ppl u need to give mexicans thier land back and u need to give all puerto ricans reparations too because puerto rico was built by slaves. u also have to ive chinese americans reparations for thier ancestors bulding the railroads of america. and u also have to prove that one is a actual ancestor of a slave in america Posted by: phillip santos on January 28, 2004 12:10 PMI think it’s pretty clear that paying reparations is nonsense. The victims and the victimizers are dead. Ah, but see, there is the trouble with inherited sin… Posted by: An outside caller on February 10, 2004 9:55 AMYou know what is ridiculous, as an African-American, I don’t want the money from anyone who is going to do it so we will “be quiet” or to somewhat satisfy the greed of some African-Americans. Why not take the reparations and give some of us a future. Invest in the people you held down?? Give us scholarships towards college and further education??? What do you say to that?
