Why Kerry might pick Her
It has previously been the conventional wisdom that Kerry would not pick Hillary Clinton as his vice presidential candidate, for the simple reason that she would outshine him. No presidential candidate wants a running mate who will attract more attention and admiration than himself. However, given what a terrible candidate and off-putting personality Kerry is, and especially given his recent “stealth” strategy, based on the idea that the more the electorate sees of him, the worse he does in the polls, and the less the electorate sees of him, the better he does in the polls, it suddenly makes complete sense that he would choose Hillary to stand at his side. He needs a VP candidate who will outshine him. He wants people not to notice him. Posted by Lawrence Auster at July 01, 2004 09:24 PM | Send Comments
That could conceivably put the Clintons in power for eight years (she as VP) then another eight years (she as president), then another eight years (her VP as president with Hillary in control). EEEEK! Though everyone denies it, I think at the end Kerry will pick Bill Richardson. Then he would get almost all the Latino votes. That’s what he’ll do if he’s smart.’ You mean he would pick someone even more dour and charmless than himself? Well, I guess that would be a way of making himself seem relatively likeable.
