Brooks agrees: the speech was a disaster

During Kerry’s acceptance speech Thursday night I wrote here that it was a “remarkable disaster.” As soon as the speech ended, David Brooks on PBS began praising it highly, and I turned off the station in disgust at his meretriciousness. But in his column in today’s New York Times, Brooks says that on reading the speech in the cold light of day, he finds it an “incoherent disaster.” That is not the sort of language the smooth and cautious Brooks, always eager to avoid offending Democrats, uses lightly.
