Kerry agonistes

I have always thought it was a cheap shot when people in political debate describe their opponent as “desperate.” But one must say that there is a desperate quality emanating from Kerry’s supporters this week, an almost animal-like thrashing out, as Kerry’s fake phony world comes crashing down around him and them. Judging from what I’m picking up on the Web today, I’d say that at this point there is a small though distinct chance—maybe one in 15, maybe one in ten—that Kerry will withdraw from the race in the not-distant future.
