The truth about Inherit the Wind

One of the seminal liberal plays and movies is Inherit the Wind. The views of several generations of Americans regarding the evolution controversy, the Scopes trial, and the character of William Jennings Bryan have been shaped by it. But, as Carol Iannone shows in this article published in First Things in 1997, almost all the historical details in the movie are whopping, vicious lies, particularly the portrayal of Bryan.
