Tina’s lament
Tina Brown’s column on the papal extravaganza of recent weeks and days, a sort of meditation on liberals’ reluctant fascination with high Church ceremony, is surprisngly inoffensive and even pleasant to read, until she gets to the moment of Cardinal Ratzinger’s election, when she turns predictably bitter and nasty. A commenter at Lucianne.com succinctly summed up Brown’s reaction: “She is disappointed that the Pope is not a secular humanist!?” Posted by Lawrence Auster at April 21, 2005 11:30 AM | Send Email entry |
