The jihad peace process

Diana West describes the horrifying new paradigm into which the Bush team, those conservative icons, are leading the world, with the Oslo peace process having evolved into the Hezbollah peace process, which has turned into the Hamas peace process, which is now spreading out and becoming the jihad peace process. All of this was implied from the beginning in Bush’s and his journalistic supporters’ uncritical, mindless, and relentless invocation of “democracy” as the highest good. The simple truth, which most Americans used to understand more or less, and now very few understand at all, is that democracy does not mean any particular substantive good. All it means is that the people rule. And, guess what? Hezbollah, Hamas, and jihadists are all people.
