Discussion at Free Republic of my ideas for dealing with Islam

When my two-part article, “The Search for Moderate Islam,” was published at FrontPage Magazine in late January, the first part, “Does It Exist?”, in which I critiqued Daniel Pipes’ belief that “moderate” Islam is or can be the solution to “radical” Islam, received a good deal of notice, while the second part, “If It Doesn’t Exist, Then What?”, in which I discussed why the search for moderate Islam will only weaken and confuse us and laid out a radically different strategy for defending the West from Islam, was, it seemed to me, pretty much ignored. I felt that the reason for this was that FrontPage had published both parts of the article together as one huge article instead of posting them as separate articles on different days, and that readers’ attention may have flagged by the time they got to the second half.

When I mentioned my concerns last night to Ron Lewenberg, who regularly posts my FrontPage articles at the Free Republic discussion board, he pointed out that he had posted part two of the article separately at Free Republic back in January. Reading over the thread now, I am delighted to see that a fair number of the Freepers “got” it. My thanks again to Mr. Lewenberg.
