Not a moderate Moslem
Interviewed by CNN in his comfortable apartment in a Cairo suburb, the father of the 9/11 ringleader Muhammad Atta said he welcomed terror attacks on the West such as his son’s and the recent bombings in London, and he promised many more to come. Major parts of the Moslem world, including well-to-do, well-educated people, speak matter-of-factly of their desire to mass murder us and destroy our society, and we still haven’t gotten it. If the matter weren’t so dreadfully serious it would be funny, like some Monty Python routine in which an Arab terrorist, with deadly intent, tells an Englishman that he wants to kill him and his family and everyone in his country, and the Englishman remains blissfully oblivious to the threats and keeps sweetly asking the terrorist what he can do for him. Would he like some tea? Some cake? A reader writes:
Your most recent post reminds me of National Lampoon’s European Vacation, in which Clark Griswold repeatedly runs over an overly accommodating Englishman (played hilariously by Eric Idle of Monty Python) in his rental car. The difference is Clark’s violence against the Englishman is precipitated by carelessness, while the violence of 07/07 was motivated by rank hatred. I gather from the movie the stereotypical Englishman is hospitable to a fault. Posted by Lawrence Auster at July 20, 2005 11:03 PM | Send Email entry |
