Fun loving suicide bombers
One month before they blew up themselves and 55 other people in London, the suicide bombers were photographed on a white-water trip in Wales. They’re wearing wet-suits, smiling, having a good time. Occasionally I’m speechless. As I contemplate the photo of the fun-loving suicide bombers, this is one of those times. (Pause.) But maybe it’s not a jaw-dropping contradiction after all. They believe their martyrdom operation will bring them to heaven. So they’re in a celebratory mood. Haven’t we seen something similar in the West Bank?
The accompanying story tells how one of the smiling young men had informed his cousin back in Pakistan that he wanted to avenge the West’s insults to Moslems. Email entry |
