The neocons have achieved their aim

With the transformation of neoconservatism into a new kind of globalist left-liberalism backed by American patriotism and firepower, and with the takeover of the conservative movement and the Republican party by this transformed neoconservative ideology, and with the conservatives’ abandonment of one conservative principle after another, climaxing in their support for a Supreme Court nominee who has helped advance the leftist agendas of homosexual rights, racial preferences, and judicial usurpation, we could fairly conclude that the conservative movement as we have known it no longer exists. But this should be no surprise. Two years ago the godfather of neoconservatism, Irving Kristol, plainly stated that this has been the purpose of neoconservatism all along. As he wrote in his important article, “The Neoconservative Persuasion:”

[O]ne can say that the historical task and political purpose of neoconservatism would seem to be this: to convert the Republican party, and American conservatism in general, against their respective wills, into a new kind of conservative politics suitable to governing a modern democracy.
