Whites helping blacks are all presumptively racist; blacks not helping blacks are … ?

I wrote the other day about the strangeness of a society in which whites keep putting themselves out to help blacks whose spokemen keep accusing the whites of racism. In reply, I’ve heard from a correspondent who works for a government agency in the South. While blacks comprise 25 percent of the agency’s approximately 200 employees, less than 8 percent of those who volunteered to help in the hurricane-ravaged areas are black. 80 percent of the volunteers are white.
