Blacks’ insane white-racism charges are making even universalist whites race-conscious

In early September I wrote that if I were a white person driving to New Orleans to help the black victims of the storm or preparing my house to take in evacuees, and then I heard about blacks accusing whites of leaving blacks in New Orleans to suffer out of racism, I would have said, “Who needs this?” I also posted an entry at the same time entitled, “You’re calling me a racist, and you want my help?” Well, you’ll never guess which mainstream opinion-maker has given voice to pretty much the same forbidden thoughts: the normally totally race-unconscious James Taranto of the normally totally race-unconscious Wall Street Journal. James Fulford at vdare quotes Taranto’s surprisingly astute and realistic observations on racial psychology from three different Taranto columns in mid-September and concludes: “If Taranto keeps this up, the WSJ may start looking like American Renaissance. Congratulate Taranto.”
