Among the believers, with Karen Hughes
Shocking but not surprising. Did you think I meant Bush’s nomination of an undistinguished female crony from Texas to be an associate justice of the U.S. Supreme Court? Well, no, I was actually thinking of Bush’s selection of an undistinguished female crony from Texas to go on a high-level “listening tour” of the Muslim world. Karen Hughes is so ignorant about modern Islam and Islamic terrorism that, when asked during a question and answer session in Egypt if she would meet with the Muslim Brotherhood, it was clear she had never heard of the organization, and she had to turn to an aide for an answer. The Muslim Brotherhood, of course, is the main source of the ideology of Osama bin Laden. But why should Karen Hughes need to know that? After all, her mission is to listen to Muslims and express friendship. Diana West has put it better: Hughes’ mission is to act like a dhimmi, as shown by her meeting with Sheikh Tantawi, a vocal supporter of jihadist terrorism, and reporting afterward that they had talked about the “common language of the heart.” Posted by Lawrence Auster at October 04, 2005 01:27 AM | Send Email entry |
