What’s going on over there?

As I said, I don’t know that my theory of the European mind in its dealings with Islam is true. But given the shortage of concrete information about Europe available to us in America (as we can see from the wildly contradictory analyses of the French riots over the past month, not a single intellectual on this side of the Atlantic can say for sure if France’s problem is that it is too multicultural or too universalistic!), and the absence of English-language versions of informative European opinion articles (assuming such articles exist, which given the brain-dead quality of mainstream European opinion is a big assumption), we are reduced to this kind of guesswork.
