Dick Morris and the “conservative” movement

A reader feels I barely touched the surface in my criticisms of Dick Morris:

In my view he is a phony opportunist. This is the man who sold his services to Clinton and to Trent Lott at more or less the same time. His turn against Clinton is completely opportunistic and reflects badly on him as a person. I believe he came up with the Condi-for-President line in the hopes it would become his third straight best seller. It also keeps him in the limelight so that he can continue to collect fees for commenting on Fox News several times a week.

Also, remember that before the sixties, his career would have been OVER after his revealed affair with the prostitute. His prominence on the “conservative” Fox News, is yet another reflection of the collapse of decent standards. The presence of this contemptible character at Frontpagemag is no surprise, in view of their favorable treatment of the anti-Christian bigot, the Trotskyite Christopher Hitchens.

Concerning Hitchens, the History Book Club is offering the new collection of Weekly Standard pieces as writing from the leading conservative magazine, featuring conservative writers like … Hitchens!

Another figure often appearing on Fox News whose career would have been ended by his affair with a call girl is Bob Beckel, Mondale’s former campaign manager.

I would add to the indictment of Morris his degradation of American politics with the kind of polling techniques he used for Clinton. As a result of Morris’s work, American politics became even more manipulative and cynical than before.
