Freepers displeased with the pope’s liberal apologetics

The devastating article on Pope Benedict’s Sixties-ish liberal take on the French riots, which was posted here in our own exclusive translation, has been posted at Free Republic. The Freepers’ comments are worth perusing. No disrespect intended, especially as I admire and like this pope, but popes have definitely lost some of the cover they used to have when issuing idiotic liberal boilerplate. Conservatives just won’t stand for it any more, even from, or perhaps especially from, the pope, who is, after all, supposed to be the defender of Christian civilization, not a sucker for its enemies.
