Hanson on Europe
In a letter to the Europeans, Victor Hanson offers an implicit refutation to Mark Steyn’s “Die, Europe, Die” schadenfreude. Hanson recognizes the very serious problems, both between Europe and the U.S., and even more, within Europe itself, but nevertheless holds out a hand of friendship and hope:
Either your economy will reform, your populace multiply, and your citizenry defend itself, or not. And if not, then Europe as we have known it will pass away—to the great joy of the Islamists but to the terrible sorrow of America.
