Rep. Hostettler: After the Amnesty of 1986 did the problems along the border intensify or were they reduced? Did things get better since 1986 or are they worse after the 1986 amnesty?
Sheriff Samaniego: Any time you give a group of illegal, undocumented aliens that are already here amnesty or anthing that stands close to amnesty, your’re sending the message to the next twelve million that are going to come in after them.They know that if they stay here long enough, get a job, they’re good people, they’re going to get amnesty, they’re going to stay here. It sends a message to the rest of the world come do the same thing.
