Speaking truth to power

Adam Buckman at the New York Post explains why the Hollywood types were less than enthralled Jon Stewart’s performance as emcee of the Oscars:

Stewart’s material was strong. Referring to the nominees for Best Picture, he said, “Capote was a groundbreaking film that broke taboos, that showed America not all gay people are virile cowboys. Some are actually effete New York intellectuals!”

“Capote, of course, addressed very similar themes to Good Night, and Good Luck,” he continued. “Both films are about determined journalists defying obstacles in a relentless pursuit of the truth. Needless to say, both are period pieces!”
