The truth about Jill Carroll

I have not been following the Jill Carroll story, but Debbie Schlussel has. Based on accounts from people who have known Carroll personally, Schlussel writes that the Christian Science Monitor reporter and former hostage of Iraqi terrorists is a virulent hater of America, which she spells with a “k,” and of Israel, which she refuses to call by name but refers to as “that country,” and of the Bible, which she has called “that s**t book.” Schlussel upbraids columnist Jeff Jacoby for having sainted and lionized Carroll.
