Sowell sees the problem, but …
Thomas Sowell understands that immigrants are not mere abstract bearers of human rights, and that they not mere abstract homo economicus, but that they are particular, concrete people whose permanent presence and increasing numbers in our society will change our society in permanent and concrete ways. It’s nice that he sees this. I must say, however, that given Sowell’s realistic understanding of the problem, he sure hasn’t done very much over the years to warn the public about it or to articulate what our immigration policy ought to be. Nor does he do so here. Posted by Lawrence Auster at April 11, 2006 01:29 AM | Send Email entry |
