On this issue, compromise means death
David Frum takes a look at Fred Barnes’s truly pathetic argument—that the only way the Republican House can survive the November elections is by surrendering to the president on immigration—and he soundly rejects it. Instead, Frum adopts a position similar to what was argued at VFR last week and stated by Mark Krikorian at the Corner: the House must absolutely reject any “compromise” with the Senate’s amnesty and “guest worker” immigration reform measure, both in order to stop the immigration catastrophe, and in order to prevent the massive defection of conservative voters in November that would surely result if the House signed on to any version of S.2611.
