Liberalism to the nth degree
Here is the logically inevitable end point of liberalism: a young Nigerian woman, having overstayed her tourist visa in Great Britain, demands a heart transplant from the National Health Service as a matter of human rights. As Melanie Phillips puts it, this woman’s lawyers’ arguments amount to saying that Britain has an obligation to provide medical care, up to and including heart replacement surgery, to everyone on earth who demands it.
