Why it is objectionable to promote “secular values,” revisited

In light of the recent debate over whether and to what extent it is proper for Western conservatives to endorse self-described “secularists” as allies against Islam, it may be worthwhile to re-read the dialog I had this past March with VFR’s Swedish conservative friend, Mr. Particular Swede. He challenged me on my attack on the secularist anti-Islam manifesto that had been signed by Ibn Warrag and Hirsi Ali, and I replied. The discussion here deals with ideas, not personalities.
