Conservatives’ inane (i.e., liberal) response to the Islamic challenge
Kevin O. writes from London:
Is it just me, or are “conservative” web sites cracking up under the
strain of opposing jihadism with nothing more substantial than cries of “free speech”? I haven’t made a studied listing of sites that prove my point, I just find that I’m turning more and more of them off
(to use the analogy of TV channels) out of sheer boredom at the inanity of their commentary.
You mentioned recently that Hugh Fitzgerald had asked the previously unasked question, “What is ‘extreme’about Islamic ‘extremism’?” (I recently asked a similar question of Mohammedan apologists, posting
anonymously on this link that you provided a few weeks ago with reference to arguments made there by
Undercover Black Man.
A more fundamental challenge than this, however, is
surely to question the veracity of the supposed
Mohammedan revelation? As a Christian I have no
problems in identifying Mohammed as a false prophet
because I believe in the truth of the Gospels and the
logical principle of non-contradiction tells me that
Mohammed’s denials of the divinity of Christ must
therefore be wrong. Others may have other ways of
testing the truth of Mohammed’s claims, but surely
that is key to the whole argument.
