Bush’s press conference
As I read Bush’s continuing, off-the-planet boilerplate, going on year after year with only the slightest variations, I realize that this goes on and on because there’s not a single person or institution on the American scene capable of speaking sense to the American public and so offering an alternative understanding to Bush’s. The greatest country on earth is thus caught inside the small obtuse head of this man. David B. writes:
As you have written numerous times, GWB’s pronouncements are nothing but “boilerplate.” The source of this is the liberalism he has imbibed all his life. Limbaugh, Hannity and Company call Bush a “strong conservative.” Some liberals have said that Bush is the “most radical right-wing President in history.” Others “can’t figure him out.” We, at VFR, after much discussion find him to be a standard-issue liberal, with personal reasons to favor Mexification of the United States.LA replies:
I wouldn’t call him a standard issue liberal, but certainly he is a liberal. And that business about extolling single mothers was a huge warning sign that was ignored. But remember, in 1999-2000, he was simply the best prospect the Republicans had, so it’s understandable they supported him. What is less understandable and excusable is that they call him a conservative. Posted by Lawrence Auster at December 22, 2006 12:20 AM | Send Email entry |
