Christmas beauty and joy

Perhaps it’s worth a post, something to cheer everyone up for Christmas. I send it along with the following thought, which came to me from your “Islam & humor” post of October 18, 2006:
“An Islamic regime must be serious in every field. There are no jokes in Islam. There is no humor in Islam. There is no fun in Islam. There can be no fun and joy in whatever is serious.” So said Iran’s former Ayatollah Khomeini.
That’s the problem. While Christianity has inspired Western man to produce things like Handel’s Messiah, Bach’s Christmas music, and the works of the Renaissance painters, amongst other things of great beauty, Islam has inspired men to produce similar works such as… such as… Oh, that’s right, those things aren’t allowed in Islam. No Joy, no Beauty. And that’s why, amongst other reasons well known to your readers, there should be no Islam in the West.
Merry Christmas.
