Mary Cheney’s test-tube baby: A new revelation parodying the old

Earlier this month I noted the ironic parallels between Mary’s baby 2000 years ago and Mary’s baby today. Here’s a fuller development of that idea.

The first Christmas: Mother’s name Mary. No physical father. The baby has been conceived by the Holy Spirit.

Christmas 2006: Mother’s name Mary. No physical father. The baby has been conceived via a test tube into which an anonymous sperm donor has deposited his sperm.

First Christmas: Mary has a husband who, though not the natural father of Mary’s baby, is his loving adoptive father (and who also, according to any commonsensical reading of scripture, has further children with her in the normal way), showing by his fatherly care that our earthly father is an expression of, while remaining subordinate in importance to, our true father, our father in heaven.

Christmas 2006: Mary has no husband. She has a lesbian “partner” who, though not the natural progenitor of the child, will become its wholly unnatural co-parent.

First Christmas: Prophecies announce that this is the birth of the Christ, the savior of the world.

Christmas 2006: The fact that Mary’s father is the second most prominent man in the United States and a “conservative” Republican who is totally supportive of everything his lesbian daughter does, means that the birth of this child will be seen as legitimizing a new homosexual norm for society. This development is exacerbated by the paralyzing reluctance of most conservatives and Christian conservatives to say anything critical about the situation out of fear of offending the Republican vice president.

First Christmas: There is no physical father because the real father is the transcendent Father of all that is, and the baby born of this spiritual conception teaches to mankind a new understanding of God, as the loving spiritual Father who is to be followed not through law but through love and grace, and whose will the Son follows perfectly, establishing a timeless ideal for all Christians. The idea of fatherhood finds its ultimate fulfillment in Jesus’ revelation of God as “my father,” as “our father which art in heaven.”

Christmas 2006: There is no physical father because the very purpose of this conception is to eliminate not only fathers and the need for fathers, but the very idea of fatherhood, leaving man as a being with nothing above himself, as a being who is the source of his own being and who no longer needs God because he has become a god, able to create human life according to his own devices. In the Christian revelation God the father expresses and fulfills his truth through his only begotten son who by becoming man reveals the father perfectly to men. But in the new revelation man makes himself divine by expressing and fulfilling his perverse desire to create a human child through human technology so as to bypass normal marriage and create “marriages” between persons of the same sex.

The resulting test-tube child, not through any fault of his own but because of the circumstances of his birth, represents a new type or ideal of man. This new ideal of man is not connected with nature in the normal way, because of the unnatural manner of his conception. He is not part of an organic human family or an organic human society, because he is deliberately created to have no father (or no mother) and to be raised as the child of two lesbians (or two male homosexuals). And he is alienated from God because the entire scheme by which he has been born and raised is intended to supplant God’s divine order and the natural and social orders that come from God.

The coming of Mary’s baby into the world, as the test-tube child of a lesbian who is the daughter of the U.S. vice president, announces a new order of the world. The child of the first Mary was the revelation of God. The child of the second Mary is the revelation of man who has become his own God.

And the silent and compromised “conservatives” are accessories to this world-changing event.

Re your article “A New Revelation Parodying the Old,” I was disgusted by the entire episode, but you clearly and logically demonstrate the impact of this act. It will jam open the door to radical homosexuality, which will be seen as acceptable. And while our sons “experiment” with “acceptable” sexual deviancy, and rot away from AIDS, and our daughters engage in depraved public acts of lesbianism, abort baby after baby, and fall prey to psychopaths and rapists, while Christianity becomes persecuted with ferocity and the void is filled with Islam, the band will play on.
