The destruction of Baghdad, 749 years ago

Since some people (not myself) want to wage a war of destruction against the Islamic world, believing that that is the only way to make ourselves safe from Islam, it may be of interest to read about the greatest calamity that ever befell Islam, the conquest, sack, burning, and utter ruin of Baghdad by the Mongols under Hulagu Khan in 1258. Is there a would-be Hulagu among us?
