Muslims, their leftist enablers, and their neocon enablers

As told by Julia Gorin at FrontPage Magazine, the Virginia Interfaith Center and the Richmond, Virginia Transportation Authority have been engaged in a sinister mind-control campaign intended to accommodate people to the presence of Islam and the Arabic language. The campaign consists of planting Arabic phrases in the inside of a bus, with hard-to-notice English translations in smaller lettters below them. The Arabic phrases are actually nonsensical rather than sinister, but the idea is that people will initially react in a negative or alarmed way to the Arabic lettering, and then see that the words were really benign, and so realize that they had an irrational prejudice against Islam. The technique has the effect, not just of short-circuiting people’s critical reactions to Islam, but of short-circuiting their critical reactions to Orwellian mind-control techniques used on them by their own government.

However, Gorin doesn’t stop at blaming the Richmond TA for what she correctly calls this “treasonous campaign.” She concludes:

Just as the Communists did, Muslims pretend to want to be participants in our system, then use our democratic ways to swallow us up.

Ok, so the problem is not just treasonous Western elites, but Islam itself. What then does Gorin propose doing about that? Nothing. If Muslims’ increasing presence in our society is enabling them to advance their agenda of taking us over, as Gorin believes is the case, how does she think we can stop that increase? She doesn’t suggest a single thing. Gorin, like Melanie Phillips and rest of the “Usual Suspects”—the vociferous Islam critics who remain stone-cold silent about Muslim immigration—just wants to kvetch about the encroaching Islamization, not do anything about it.

Which leads to a disturbing thought. To talk endlessly about a mortal threat to our society, and not offer any means of saving ourselves from it, is to induce an attitude of passive resignation toward that threat. So it turns out that the “Usual Suspects” are doing the same thing as the Richmond Transit Authority. They are deliberately stoking up in the public’s mind a heightened sense of alarm about Islam, only to short-circuit the alarm and thus leave the public in a passive, helpless state.

Such a confused and bemused public still wants to protect America from radical Islam, but since the single indispensable means of doing that—stopping Muslim immigration—has been denied them, they opt for symbolic substitutes, such as fighting radical Muslims in Iraq.

Sharp and spot on. But whether ordinary people will ever see through all these Suspects is another story. The Suspects give the comfort of backing up people’s unsaid feelings about Islamic theology and Muslim culture and behaviour without encouraging those people to do anything about it. Because the Suspects themselves don’t want to do anything about the Muslim invasion. They simply love to moan and groan about it and pick up the paycheck. With their “hidden” liberalism undamaged. A sort of Couch Potato Muslim Invasion Awareness Paradigm for the Mainstream.
