Dell Hell: who had the most to gain?
I have recently been helping out a friend who purchased an inexpensive laptop computer from Compaq equipped with the Windows Vista operating system and the new version of Microsoft Word, or “Microsoft Office Word” as it’s now officially and wordily called—Word has been overlaid with the “Office” label so that even the familiar File menu has been eliminated and replaced by something called insanely the “Microsoft Office button.” In fact all the menus have been eliminated and replaced by a spectacularly complicated and confusing contraption called the “ribbon,” and all this was done in the name of making Word more “accessible”! Dealing with these “upgrades” and “advances” has given rise to dark thoughts about the course of modern society, which I will have more to say about later. For the present, here are some musings about another extremely unpleasant aspect of the computer world: the outsourcing of tech support to foreign countries. You know the way some people’s minds work: they assume that nothing ever happens by accident, they think that everything that happens is intended by some sinister power holders who have the most to gain from that thing happening. For example, since Israel supposedly gained from America’s launching of a war against Islamic terrorism, Israel must have been behind the 9/11 attack. And somehow the Israelis pulled this off without any evidence of their evil deed ever coming to light. We could come up with many other similar examples, but you get the idea. No matter how absurd the conspiracy theory, there are always some people who will believe it. The key assumption is that nothing is unintended, that dark forces are controlling everything that is happening in the world. Well, here is my conspiracy theory. The outsourcing of Dell Computer’s technical support and customer support to India, and the resulting spectacular deterioration of a once great company into what has justly been called “Dell Hell” (be sure to read the linked article which contains stories that are similar to my own experiences) has resulted in many Americans developing certain negative feelings about at least some Indians that they never had before; previously, American had uniformly positive views of Indians. Now, who would have the most to gain from this unhappy result? The Muslims. Since America and India are natural allies against Islam, if non-Muslim America could be divided from non-Muslim India, it would be easier for the Muslims to gain power over both. Thus it was Muslims who were behind Dell’s outsourcing to India. You ask, how could the Muslims have pulled this off? You might as well ask, how did the Rothschilds help Hitler come to power? The Rothschilds, being leftist Jews, wanted the Communists to take over Europe. So they helped Hitler come to power, knowing with godlike omniscience that Hitler would invade the USSR, and that the USSR would then successfully strike back at the Germans, invade and conquer Europe, and subject Europe to Communism. That’s not a made-up conspiracy theory, like my Dell theory. I actually heard it once from an intelligent person (a traditionalist Catholic by the way) who believed it to be true.

The last two cpu’s I’ve owned (this one for a year) have been nothing but trouble. The Indian help I’ve worked with (for hours at a time) have never fixed a problem. I’ve had to do a Dell restore twice on this machine. The last tech I spoke with was more concerned about his positive remarks from a questionnaire Dell sends out every time you use their services.LA replies:
Then you have to use a computer with a logo that shows a partly eaten apple. Posted by Lawrence Auster at March 24, 2007 09:25 AM | Send Email entry |
