Memorial Day

I’m sorry that nothing has occurred to me today to post in honor of Memorial Day. I will just say this. I hope that in the future, if American Soldiers, Marines, Sailors, and Airmen must make the ultimate sacrifice, it will be for the sake of our country, and not for the sake of some utopian crackpot scheme. Imagine what George Washington would have said about George W. Bush’s attempt to democratize the Muslim world.

Paul K. writes:

This morning I went out for breakfast with some of my in-laws. My brother-in-law brought up the immigration issue and I told him why I am opposed to the McCain-Kennedy bill. I wasn’t angry, wasn’t raising my voice, just expressing my opinion. However, my mother-in-law got nervous because all the waiters and busboys around us were Mexicans.

Interesting, I thought, this sense of intimidation within our own country and on this day, of all days, when we honor those who sacrificed their lives for it.
