Nifong resigns
A year ago, Durham County, North Carolina district attorney Michael Nifong was a hero to liberal America for indicting and carrying on a public campaign against three white Duke University students for the rape of a drug addled black stripper. Yesterday, on the fourth day of a hearing by the North Carolina State Bar which has charged him with “systematic abuse of prosecutorial discretion” in that case, Nifong announced that he will resign his office. He still faces disbarment and criminal charges.
While we’re talking about rogue prosecutors who deserve to be disbarred and punished as criminals for abuse of prosecutorial discretion, let us not forget the evil Patrick Fitzgerald. From the moment Fitzgerald became special prosecutor in the Valerie Plame Wilson matter, he already knew who had leaked the information about Wilson to the media and that the leak was innocent. Yet he never told the public this crucial information, and he spent years going after Lewis Libby, based on the imperative that he had to catch someone for something. Email entry |
