How Bush and his supporters have perverted the American idea of liberty

I have frequently argued that President Bush’s notion that “Freedom is God’s gift to all people” is a gross distortion of the Founding Fathers’ understanding of liberty. In a comment posted this morning I explain this idea more clearly than I have done before.
