Partition gets mainstreamed
In an article that almost sounds as though it could have been written by Randall Parker at Parapundit, Helene Cooper in the New York Times favorably presents the argument that the only way to resolve the Iraq horror is through a three-way ethnic partition of the country, and that such partition is already occurring on its own, so why not get behind it and help it along? A leading champion of partition is Sen. Joseph Biden, who was dismissed when he raised the idea a year ago but now people are attending to him. Biden does not push full partition, as Randall Parker does, but a Bosnia-type “soft” partition in which the three sections would remain under the formal sovereignty of a weak central state.
