Pinkerton article a source of hope
Simon N. writes:
I live in an area of London containing many Muslim terrorists and suspected terrorists. My immediate neighbourhood is close to an expanding (radical) Muslim-dominated area. Much of London is Muslim-dominated these days, and it often seems there is a pervasive atmosphere of fear and foreboding. I found James Pinkerton’s article in TAC, “The Once and Future Christendom,” very uplifting. It’s important to keep our spirits up as we face the long time of darkness ahead, a darkness already descending. The writer both recognised the gravity of the threat to the West, ultimately as great as anything since 732 AD, and offered a realistic yet optimistic message, that we can survive, that we can get through this. M. Mason writes:
Apropos of an interesting discussion at VFR from some weeks ago about the European response to Islam, you might want to take look at this article quoted at Gates of Vienna (if you haven’t already). The story is about a Dutch journalist who spent a year incognito in the Muslim community in Brussels and—to his naïve surprise—the attitudes he found there. It’s a classic case of a liberal having to get mugged by reality—in this case literally, too—before the light of sense finally began to penetrate his mental darkness.RG writes from Dearborn:
Does freedom of expression exist in Dearborn or must everything be cleared by our esteemed, local Imams? Does the local press censor ideas that may be critical of the “religion on peace”? I’m willing to bet they do, as they know who butters their bread. Posted by Lawrence Auster at September 19, 2007 11:42 PM | Send Email entry |
