On Oklahoma’s anti-illegal immigration law

Terry Morris sent the following to the Tancredo campaign about Oklahoma’s recent anti-illegal alien legislation and a planned protest against it by Hispanic groups. I have edited it slightly.

As Mr. Tancredo is probably aware by now, the state legislature of Oklahoma in its last session went to work (by popular demand) on solving the illegal alien crisis that our state is now facing due to the failure of other states and of the federal government to secure our borders, and control illegal immigration and migration into the various states. Every state has a natural right to protect itself against such as this whenever it becomes plain that the self-defense mechanisms it has cheerfully submitted itself to are not working. Our legislature did its duty for the citizenry in passing HB 1804, which has been called by many, including Hispanic organizations, the toughest immigration legislation in the nation. And our governor, Brad Henry, wisely followed suit in signing this legislation into law.

Hispanic groups have already threatened the State of Oklahoma, and every state in this union by extension, by pronouncing that in advance of the new law taking effect on November 1st, they are going to “make an example of the Oklahoma,” by filing federal lawsuits challenging Oklahoma’s (and again, by extension, every state’s authority) authority over internal immigration policy, and making a big show of it on the Capitol steps on October 1st.

The purpose here is obvious. It is to discourage every state in this Union from following Oklahoma’s lead and passing their own legislation meant to control illegal immigration into the country and the respective states.

So, this is not merely an event which concerns only the State of Oklahoma. It is a national event which concerns every state in this federal union, and their unalienable right to internal self-preservation.

The October 1st demonstration seems, therefore, to be the exact kind of event that Congressman Tancredo would desire to attend. There can be no doubt whatsoever that from a traditionalist conservative standpoint, every state has every right and duty to protect itself against an invasion of illegals in the face of the national government’s apparent refusal or inability to do so.

This event is vitally important to solving the immigration crisis, and in my view Mr. Tancredo should, schedule permitting, seriously consider being in attendance. Once again it is scheduled for October 1st, on the Capitol steps in Oklahoma City.

For more on this, you may visit my recent blog post concerning the matter. Click on the “important blog post” link in the first line of the first paragraph to learn more about the nature of Oklahoma’s new law, as well as to verify what I’m saying about the scheduled event.

Thanks.
-Terry D. Morris Jr., McAlester, Ok.
