A movie with liberal villains?

HBO has purchased the rights to Stuart Taylor’s and K.C. Johnson’s book, Until Proven Innocent: Political Correctness and the Shameful Injustices of the Duke Lacrosse Rape Case. Is it possible that HBO will truthfully portray the events as shown in the book, thus showing modern liberalism as the evil that it is? Or will they reverse the book and turn the lacrosse players back into bad guys and Michael Nifong into a well-meaning if overly ardent prosecutor?

The signs are not great. According to WRAL.com, “The movie would explore the dynamics of racism and class that made the case a national story, Variety reported.” Variety didn’t say that the movie will explore the dynamics of anti-white hatred that made the case a national story. And it’s hard to have confidence that it will.

Remember, for the last 50 years, the standard liberal plot line concerns an innocent minority unfairly accused of a crime by racist whites, e.g., Twelve Angry Men. That HBO will reverse this sacred liberal liturgy and honestly tell a true story about innocent whites unfairly accused of a crime by anti-white whites is too much to expect. I’ll believe it when I see it.

However, one factor that makes it possible is that made-for-tv movies are often free of the vicious liberalism that characterizes theatrical movies and regular tv series.
