Discussion with Jackson concludes
Mary Jackson was not satisfied with my previous explanation of my comment on Elizabeth Hasselbeck, so I’ve replied to her again. The underlying issue between us goes beyond the question of women’s role in politics and touches on a philosophical difference between traditionalism-essentialism and liberalism-nominalism. I believe that the public statements of public figures have a representational meaning in society. Jackson believes that the public statements of public figuress are simply the personal opinion of the person making the statement and mean nothing beyond that.
