Steyn gets treated by a libertarian critic the same way Colmes treated me

Mark Steyn quoted some Muslim who said, “Just look at the development within Europe, where the number of Muslims is expanding like mosquitoes.” Blogger Jim Henly, in an all-out attack on Steyn as a “racist,” accused Steyn of saying that Muslims are “multiplying like mosquitoes.” Steyn then pointed out Henley’s error at the Corner.

Alan Colmes did the same to me (actually, much worse) when I was on his show in April 2006. In my article at FrontPage Magazine, “The Second Mexican War,” I quoted a Mexican writer who had said:

You cannot give me a similar example of such a large migratory wave by an ant-like multitude, stubborn, unarmed, and carried on in the face of the most powerful and best-armed nation on earth….

Colmes in his relentless effort to portray me as a racist accused me of regarding Mexicans as ants. When I pointed out that a Mexican writer, not I, had described Mexicans as ants, Colmes, instead of dropping the point, tried to save face by insisting that I declare that I do not regard Mexicans as ants. I said, “Why am I responsible for something a Mexican writer said?” and refused to play Colmes’s game. However, what I wished I had said was: “Why aren’t you concerned that a Mexican writer regards his own people as an ant-like multitude invading America?”
