Background of NR’s endorsement of Romney

From this VFR post in August, I realize that National Review has been leaning toward Romney for several months. Back then NR was making Romney’s “three legs of conservatism” its standard for Giuliani to follow (or rather for Giuliani to pretend to follow) in order to become acceptable to conservatives. It looks as if NR gave up on Giuliani’s adopting (or rather claiming to adopt) the three legs, and went to the source of the idea himself.
